The second attempt at post-shading, with a 2 to 1 ratio of yellow and white paint, has a better result, although it is still very subtle. I don't want to do a third try with even lighter paint, because I want to see how this looks under a coat of varnish first.
A closer look should make it relatively clear what the intended effect is.
I think it needs the pre-shading to be able to give a better effect. The effect is subtle, but some dark lines would make it great I think :).

ReplyDeleteFor the moment, the way I still (learn to) paint would probably cover the entire pre-shading work and render it invisible.
Maybe I need a sponsor for a new airbrush sooner rather than later.
